Creating an essence of yourself is no easy task, and it certainly does not happen in two snaps. Building yourself up to become a role model and embodiment of style and character takes time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a long time. Embracing style, being aware of your surroundings, and aspiring for major goals in the future creates character, and molds the embodiment of an figure that displays iconic standards.
How does incorporating your style within your everyday life play a role in how you view yourself as a person?
Well.. I think style has a lot to do with it, because you gotta be different. You know? If you didn’t have style, you would be just like everyone else.
Are you usually all about the majestical glam that you’re in right now, or do you have different parameters of fashion that you prefer to stay into?
I go ALL over. Like, I’m just fashionable with everything. You know, I have a wide variety of different things.
You got the whole table set out!
Yeah! A big variety. Whatever I’m feeling that day, or if I’m feeling like something, I’ll just do it, you know? It’s not just one particular thing.
Right, you don’t feel that you have to just stick in a specific lane, just because it’s what you usually do.
As Solange Knowles would say “I'm a lot more interested in style than fashion, style is what makes us who we are,” each person’s specific style illustrates a story about themselves. For Mariah, her style is nothing short of expressing creative freedom. Everyday, she is constantly remolding her style to stretch boundaries, and discovering new aspects of fashion and expressionism. By expanding the boundaries American culture may hold down upon black America, she can encourage the confidence of black women alike through her style.
